GTB: a new system for Olympic Medals

The Kazakhstan Biathlon Union is starting the third season of Grand Tour Biathlon (GTB). This is the biggest youth project in the history of Kazakhstan biathlon. At the first stage in Ridder, 170 athletes from 10 regions participated, showing that the project is growing fast.
GTB: a new system for Olympic Medals

The goal of GTB is to build a strong future for the National Team. It is not just a local competition; it is a professional series of 5 stages (3 winter and 2 summer). Everything is organized like the IBU World Cup to prepare kids for professional sports.

To help our athletes, we invited a famous expert: Luca Bormolini, the former head coach of the Czech women’s team. He is teaching our kids the high standards of world-class biathlon.

We have a special agreement with the Norwegian Biathlon Federation. For two years, we have sent our best kids to Liatoppen in Norway the world’s biggest kids' festival. This year, the top athletes from the winter stages will again win a trip to Norway to gain international experience.

GTB works like a "social lift." We provide big prizes and financial support:

Team Prizes: At the end of the season, the Top 5 regions  share 10 million tenge.

New Equipment: This money is used to buy professional skis, rifles and uniforms for the local teams.

Coach Rewards: The best coach with the best athletes receive a 500,000 tenge cash prize for his hard work.

The project is already working. For example, in Astana’s Central Park, we built a new shooting range where 100 kids train for free.

By investing in the young generation today, the Kazakhstan Biathlon Union is building a foundation for the future. Our goal is clear: we want our athletes to win Olympic medals in 2030–2034.
