Grand Tour Biathlon: A Big Project to Help Kids Learn Biathlon Starts
Young biathletes competitions will now take place under the new name 'Grand Tour Biathlon', featuring 4 winter and 2 summer stages in different cities across the country. On the first day of the sprint race, over 100 athletes from 8 regions participated. Competitors came from Akmola, Almaty, Abay, East Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, and the city of Almaty.
Winners will receive special prizes from the organizers, including leader bibs for each stage of the sprint and individual races, a yellow bib for the overall season leader, and personalized winner's crystal globes.
The top 3 to 5 teams will receive certificates to purchase children’s equipment, and the best athletes born between 2008 and 2010 will have the opportunity to attend a festival in Norway from April 10 to 15.
The second stage of the Cup is scheduled for January 2024 in Aksai, West Kazakhstan. The new competition format will closely match the stages of the Biathlon World Cup for adults.
The main goal of organizing the Grand Tour Biathlon is to popularize and develop this sport in the regions, especially in areas where biathlon bases have recently opened, as well as the opening of a children's department in Astana. The festival organizers intend to make these competitions the brand of Kazakhstan biathlon.
