Akkol Region Takes Steps to Open New Biathlon Section for Kids
The Head of the Akkol district, Birzhan Abdrakhmanov and the Secretary General of the Kazakhstan Biathlon Union, Manas Ussenov, held a meeting to discuss opening a new biathlon section and developing youth sport in the region. The meeting was also attended by Head of the local Sports Department Sergey Usanov and Asian champions Alexandr Chervyakov and Anna Lebedeva.
Manas Ussenov noted that the Akkol district has perfect nature and good coaches for biathlon. He said the federation is ready to support the region with professional sports equipment.
Today, more than 50 children train in biathlon under the leadership of 4-time Asian Games champion Alexandr Chervyakov and Asian champion Anna Lebedeva. The two champions opened a small biathlon base at their house and develop the sport by themselves.If the local government helps to build an official biathlon base, the federation is ready to host one stage of the national youth "Grand Tour Biathlon" competition in Akkol.
