Biathlon World Championships: Results of the National Team

The Biathlon World Championships took place in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic. The Kazakhstan Biathlon Union presents the main results of our national team at this major tournament.

Mixed Relay: The Kazakhstan team (Alexandr Mukhin, Vladislav Kireev, Galina Vishnevskaya-Sheporenko, and Polina Egorova) finished in 21st place. Alexandr Mukhin started very well and passed the relay in 5th place.

Single Mixed Relay: Galina Vishnevskaya-Sheporenko and Alexandr Mukhin represented the country and finished 23rd. Team France won the gold, Italy took silver, and Norway got the bronze medal.

In the sprint, Alexandr Mukhin finished 35th and Vladislav Kireev was 45th. Both athletes qualified for the pursuit race. Aset Dyusenov finished 68th. In the pursuit, Mukhin showed a good result and finished in the top 30, while Kireev took 52nd place. In the women's sprint, Galina Vishnevskaya-Sheporenko finished 43rd, Alina Skripkina was 78th and Polina Egorova took 82nd place.

In individual race, Galina Vishnevskaya-Sheporenko made a great comeback and finished 24th (top 25) out of 91 athletes. She shot perfectly with zero mistakes. The athlete said her main goal is to get back into top form after maternity leave and prepare for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Olga Poltoranina finished 66th, and Polina Egorova was 82nd. Vladislav Kireev missed 3 targets and finished 47th out of 100 biathletes, showing good progress this season. Nikita Akimov finished 72nd, and Alexandr Mukhin took 81st place with 7 mistakes (but showed the 27th fastest ski time).

Note: Alexandr Mukhin is the leader of the men's national team this season. He often finishes in the top 30 at the World Cup stages, qualified for the mass start, and helped the men's relay team take 11th place in Oberhof.
